  Kid-A You have a point about the lives lost and when you read the scriptures about blood

  Drew - they certainly do like themselves to stand out as different, the witnesses

  A-Paduan - not quite understanding your point as the law being spiritual

  IP_Sec and Jw Facts - your pint was GREAT and I never thought of it , In the context of circumcism and that the 4 prohibitions were for the sake of charity and union of the Jews and Gentiles. And it was about eating, liked the point about Jesus saying, 'What goes into a man, does not defile a man."

  MJ - Good point about it not bing explicit, if it was so important it would be more explicit

  Honesty -point well taken about Jesus, bending rules when neccessary like David did with the showbread.

  making decisions for a jw is never simple.

  every decision seems to be loaded with a 'what if' scenario and also, a 'what will people say' on top of that.. the april 15, 2006, is a classic for showing why the average jw is so messed up, it's amazing that he/she even knows what to put on in the morning!.

  'how can you make decisions god's way' is a classic for messing up, even the sanest head.. page 14 of this article:.

  Wow...do I agree...my interpretation is that their goal is to control everyone's actions, appearance, friends, association. A brother gave a talk to the women..and told them every possible aspect of their appearance to watch..it was nausiating...He even said to go on your knees and if your skirt doesn't touch the ground, your dress is too short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  This is the opposite of Jesus..He never emphasised this..

  Mankind's sufferings who's to blame?

  there is and always was a lot of suffering in the world since the beginning of history, so who is to blame?

  is it a god that doesn't care or a mankind that refuses to be reconciled with god and through that find salvation?

  ok, like the thread suggests... i was watching jaws and got a message out of it.. i have a really weird habit of looking for messages in movies.

  dunno know why, i just do.. well, since this is no recent movie (it came out in 75) i guess i wouldn't be spoiling it to say that when this monster great white attacked and killed a little boy, the mother of said boy comes up to the chief and smacks him.

  she was trying to comprehend how the chief of police could knowingly allow people to swim in monster shark infested waters.

  Hello Black Swan,

  Yes, I see what you mean..Jesus said the religion would have wolves in sheeps clothing. Do we warn them... ? I'm not used to anybody listening to anything I say, so I don't feel real gunhoe about warning people about the WT.. But I do try sometimes... Actually I did influence 2 people. I'm just SO glad that when I was a witness, I didn't influence many to get into it!

  I love to find hidden meanings in movies...especially the Poisiden Adventure.. Have you seen that..? Full of typical and antitypical..meanings... You know, I do it with music too..

  What is most important ? to approach a JW with? Any current changes in WT?

  i have recently been having a dialogue with my jw friend on the "blood" doctrine.

  i've heard about others who have used the wt involvement with the un (which i am not very familiar with).

  others say to use the failed prophecies.

  The latest change...is in the Keep on the Watch Brochere..it has a chapter called, "the hour of judment has arrived". It goes on to explain that it's a period that occurs at the end of last days...... Although in their recent Wt on the subject they tiptoed around the idea of it being a new period...we have just entered into. So they don't know what they are saying anymore..they are Lost.

  theme was based on the scripture to "clothe yourselves with the new personality" .

  program had 2 symposiums and various other talks.

  i didnt take notes... stopped doing that a while ago but i did manage to listen to some of the program.

  Who really is Babylon the Great?

  i know the wts says it is false religion, but if you read daniel, jeremiah, and revelation it shows that babylon the great is actually ruling over the ten kings.

  how can "false religion" rule over the kings of the earth?

  it seems that babylon the great might actually portray a real government.

  Truthfully, Jgnat, I am not sure who Babylon the Great is..just seems like US...And the beast she's riding on.. Not sure either. But thinking Al qaida......The only thing I was seeming sure about was the last king of the North as being Al qaida....

  body: what we use to become conscious of the the world around us.. soul: what we use to become conscious of our self as an identity, ego and will.. spirit: what we use to become conscious of the divine: god.. the above largely comes to us by way of greek philosophy.. and, thanks to the conquests of alexander the great (pupil of aristotle) that philosophy soaked into every nation, tribe, tongue and religion it encountered.. so what, then, is all this leading to?

  two points:.

  1. we today are influenced by greek philosophy (but are probably not aware of it) just as the conquered world was back then.. 2. greek science, philosophy and especially vocabulary caused a mutation in cultures, religions and thinking.. the middle east (and judaism) was shattered by the impact of greek conquest.

  Hi Terry, I liked these definitions, I would add that breath and life must be added the soul and spirit definitions

  BODY: what we use to become conscious of the the world around us.
